Spend Your Friday Night at The Arts Center

A conversation between friends…

- “Have you seen the great ceramic exhibit at the Jamestown Arts Center?” … “No, what’s it about?” … “It’s the artwork of this pottery guy from Fargo-Moorhead, Brad Bachmeier and the stuff is amazing and its right here in Jamestown.” … Amazing, huh, how’s that? … “There are over 50 pieces, all kinds of vessels and platters, low-fire ceramics that are earthy yet polished, I guess the artist is inspired by nature, geology and rock formations. Apparently he studies all kinds of primitive cultures’ pottery techniques and experiments with them, applying them to his own work.” … That’s cool, sounds like I should stop in and check it out, how long is going to be on display?” … It only goes until Friday the 30th and I hear the artist will be coming for a closing reception at 5:30 pm–how cool is that? And he is also giving a workshop on Saturday morning so people can learn some of his methods.” … “You know, that sounds like a new and different way to spend Friday night, better than the same old routine we usually do. Say, are the pots for sale? Maybe I can find one of those special, one-of-a-kind gifts for that special someone.” … Yeah, they are for sale, I was thinking the same thing, but it will be hard to choose, they are all so nice. You know, I also heard that following the artist’s reception at 7:30 there is going to be a music gig, a local guitar player from Valley City, Michael Whisler. He is going to be playing from his new album. I missed him last time he came to The Arts Center but I hear he plays really well–acoustic folk, blues and classical tunes.” … “Jeeze, I didn’t realize The Arts Center did so many different kinds of things, I guess I’ve been missing out.” … “Yeah, and their new facility is sooo nice. Ok, let’s plan on a Friday “night of culture”  and meet at The Arts Center for the Brad Bachmeier reception and free hors’ d’oeuvres at 5:30 and get our tickets for the 7:30 performance of Michael Whisler and then go to dinner at the Buffalo Grill. I guess you get 10% off your meal with a your concert ticket, we can’t get much better than that!” … “Wow, this sounds fun, I can’t wait for Friday!”
